General

TSS is a thyristor - controlled power electronic device, specially designed for switching power capacitors in PFC (Power Factor Correction) system, where quick response in dynamic switching of power capacitors are extremely required for PFC and harmonics suppression. TSS has several international patents including latest technologies invented by Goodwell, includes Thyristor Control Circuit, Voltage-Sensing system and Forced Triggering system. There new technologies provide low power consumption (in control circuit), quick response (in ON-OFF instruction) and better conductivity of the switch contacts, eventually to ensure power capacitors will last for its designed service life even in severe industrial environments.

Features

  • High speed SOC processor for phase sequence control, phase loss protection, accurate zero-degree making angle and high speed ON-OFF operation. To achieve real zero-inrush current and zero-arc voltage operations.
  • Patented high-speed triggering technology provides - when power capacitor does not discharge any current, synchronous-close operation of three-phase capacitors within 20ms while 3 phase current-angle difference less than 120°.
  • Built-in temporary over-voltage protection circuit and optical isolation circuit to withstand noise interference, increase EMC protective level.
  • No mechanical contact has been used in control circuit, provides extreme high operating speed and infinite electrical operating times.
  • Aluminum alloy case construction, extra big radiator, smart temperature sensing and control system to ensure excellent heat radiation in a rapidly of running time of the cooling fan, increase fan service life and reduce the energy loss.
  • All industrial grade electronic components, high quality power transistor, encapsulated or insulated circuit board to ensure 100,000 hours life time of the electronic control system.

Service Instruction

  • Working environment temperature: -25°C ~ +45°C
  • Working environment relative humidity: 0 ~ 95%
  • Storage & transportation temperature: -30°C ~ +85°C
  • Prohibit to install in hash gas environment where electrical insulation is subject to damage or explosive risk.
  • Electrical cabinet to accommodate TSS shall be well ventilated.

Recommendation

  • Suggest to use high quality power capacitors with series reactor for PFC system, because in case any single puncture event occurred on capacitors, an over voltage will strike electronic components of TSS. Select higher ratings capacitor to have higher margin for heavy harmonic and frequent over-current background environment.
  • When select single-phase, individual-compensation switch, capacitor's neutral wire shall be firmly connected, otherwise over-voltage will present over the selected switch.
  • The protective fuse to be install at source side of the TSS, fuse type NGT or RS series, rated at 160~200% of capacitor working current are suggested.
  • Design of load-side conductor for TSS shall be calculated at 2Amp/per square mm or less; the terminal hole for 160A TSS or below shall be 6mm > Φ > 8mm, SC50-8 terminal hole shall be accepted.
